I had an impacted wisdom tooth extracted 2 1/2 weeks ago. Along with alot of pain I have experinced a swollen gland and sorethroat since the extraction. I am also getting very worried. I am schedule to see the doctor on mon.i have the same situation, you would not beleive how many nerves are along your jawline, they control of the pain your feeling especially with an infection it affects all of your upper sinuses to sometime. experience is a hard lesson. i’m on anbtibiotics and pain meds(ibuprofen) the antibiotic helps alot. see if your doctor can right you an antibiotic that works for all kinds of infections like upper respitory that also helps with swollen lymph nodes and infection at the same time, i hope this helpsdont’ know if this helps any, but I am a dental student. it is quite common to have swelling after extractions, especially 3rd molar (wisdom teeth) extractions. Like Queshonya said, there are SEVERAL nerves in that area that can be ‘hit’ or twisted or so on during the extraction. Did your dentist give you antibiotics to take after the extraction? And did you get post-op instructions to NOT smoke, not to eat hard foods, to NOT spit (like a hard powerful spit) and to not suck through straws? If you did any of that, you MAY have set up dry socket. It’s when you suck or pull out the clot in the area of the extraction and leave exposed bone in the socket. It can be very painful. I suggest heating pads until you can get in to see your doctor. do indeed go see him or her soon though.I won’t try to suggest any meds over this net thing but if you can’t get in immediately, you should at least call and speak to him or her to see if there is any OTCs you can take until you can get inI am 37 years old. Extracted the left wisdom tooth 3 weeks ago. Some nerves were disrupted during the extraction. Here are the symptoms I feel now : A weird sensation on a tooth on the left side of the jaw. It is not pain. It is as if a heavy object is stuck to it. I can feel some “relief” in that area when I drink hot liquids. When I use the left-side for chewing, it is not the same as the right-side feeling. All the teeth on the left-side of the jaw feels weak. I experience discomfort/slight pain in the jaw/gums when I bite down on the left-side. My question : are both the above symptoms due to nerve disruption and will they get back to normal eventually?well my tooth has been infected now for the 5th time i,m on the list to have the tooth taken out been waiting 16 weeks so far . this infection is so much worse than the last ones i have been on pills for 3 days and it just getting worse cant open jam now cause right hand side of face is so swollen it,s driving me mad now so think i,m going to have to try and pull it out myself with some pliers it’s driving me that mad at the moment :(:(My husband has an infected wisdom tooth. His cheek is swole, he can barely open his mouth and he is in a lot of pain. He has been taking antibiotics for 7 days and the swelling has not went down, does this mean the infection is lingering??? If so, why?I just got my impacted wisdome teeth out a week ago. If there is pain or swelling it’s because it happens, and if the pin goes like ‘into your ear’ (that what it feels like) then go back to the dentist and tell them chances are you have a dry socket, and they’ll but a discusting tasting and smelling thing in the socket and will make you feel much much better!!!i had a lower left wisdom tooth extracted 4days ago.my left side of face is swollen looks like i av a few chins, when i swallow it hurts.the pain is close to unbearable.i tried everythin, ive had the medicated gauze put on the socket, had it removed today by a different dentist as it was doin more harm than good apparently.ive been takin two lots of antibiotics for 3days along with co codamol and diclafenac, none of this is workin.im in so much pain i can barely eat or open my mouth.what do i do now?i got my wisdom teeth pulled only on the right side the dentist knew they were both infected but pulled them any ways.. right after i had a soar throat and i took myself to hospital 3 days later i had an abssesed throat and everyone is telling me to sue my dentist???My boyfriend has had an infected wisdom tooth ever since we started dating, which was almost 2 yrs ago. i have tried to him to go get it looked at, but he can be very stubborn! Now this morning he told me he had woken up with a mouth full of blood! I just got a couple of questions: How bad is the infection when your waking up with a mouth full of blood? And, how would you suggest getting someone(28 yrold male) who is afraid of needles to go to the doctor and get themselves checked out?
